Provider of network assurance solutions for broadband services providers, Tollgrade Communications, Inc., is displaying new answers for IP-based service assurance challenges in Booth 1180 at the SCTE Cable-Tec EXPO and conference being held in San Antonio, Texas June 15-17 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

The Cheetah(TM) CMD-E is the latest addition to Tollgrade's CheetahIP(TM)/HFC Service Assurance Solution, providing multi-layered visibility of VoIP and IP service performance from the HFC end-of-line into the core network. By gathering real-time call quality metrics to identify transient problems and provide comprehensive diagnostic data, the CMD-E helps network operators prequalify and maintain their plant to assure successful delivery of VoIP services between regions, nodes and HFC end-of-line locations.

Tollgrade has also introduced CheetahXD(TM), the company's new Broadband Assurance Platform. The CheetahXD software framework provides cross domain (XD) fault and performance tools for DOCSISŪ-based network management. CheetahXD preserves existing customer investments by integrating multi-vendor DOCSIS and HMS transponders, as well as legacy Tollgrade/Cheetah transponders. Scheduled performance tests from selected Power Supply and/or End-Of-Line locations enable cable operators to routinely verify the network's performance from the customer's perspective. Detailed test results can be used to proactively isolate HFC, CMTS, IP Network, and Softswitch failures.

"Extensive ticket studies imply that 60% of today's broadband troubles are related to multi-layered sessions between the CPE and IP access network," said Greg Quiggle, executive vice president of marketing for Tollgrade. "The introductions of QoS-sensitive services, such as VoIP, will only further this trend. Tollgrade provides the only solution that remotely isolates these troubles by performing delay, loss and jitter analysis via a HFC-based DOCSIS transponder." Following completion of industry testing and certification, Tollgrade expects these new products to be generally available during the second half of 2005.
