Netcentrex, provider of converged voice-video-data networks and next-generation services, and FASTWEB, the main alternative fixed broadband telecom operator in Italy, announced that average daily traffic has reached 10 million VoIP calls per day, using Netcentrex solutions.

Thanks to a completely IP-based architecture and selective use of both fiber optics and DSL, FASTWEB has optimized the delivery of triple play converged services including voice, Internet and television over a single broadband connection. With more than 598.200 customers (as of end of June 2005) and over 10 millions VoIP calls per day, FASTWEB is considered the largest residential VoIP network in the world. Furthermore, thanks to its integrated voice, Internet video and value added services package, FASTWEB average revenue per user (ARPU) is almost double the average of other companies on the European market, reaching 900 euros in June 2005.

"FASTWEB's competitive advantage over other service providers is based on its breakthrough technological solution. Innovation and service differentiation have always been two key components of our strategy", according to Guido Roda, Director of Network Service Engineering of FASTWEB. "Netcentrex' MyCall solution is managing all the VoIP calls between our customers and is a cornerstone of such strategy".

"Netcentrex, HP Consulting Italy and FASTWEB have had a successful partnership since the initial launch of VoIP services in 2002.. We are delighted that Fastweb has reached record levels of VoIP traffic using Netcentrex platforms, confirming their status as leading supplier of triple play and VoIP services in Europe," said Eric Draghi, Regional Sales Director for Southern Europe at Netcentrex. "We will continue to work with FASTWEB to develop and deploy solutions for new innovative services based on IMS architecture."
